November 4--  The Sweet Onion Classic Golf Tournament raises money for local causes and Thursday presented a $5,000 check to the Vidalia Educational Foundation to help classroom teachers enhance instruction for their students.  Lisa Bishop (far right) says the Classic Board recognizes schools are having trouble with funding these days and approved this contribution because it goes directly to classroom instruction.  Left to right are Lynnette Dell, Jo Hamilton and Donald Estroff on behalf of the Foundation and Wendell Dixon, Stu Hamilton and Lisa Bishop on behalf of the Sweet Onion Classic board.

Joe Hamilton with the Vidalia Educational Foundation says 19 teachers in the Vidalia City School System will share the funds for projects in their classrooms.

Other Sweet Onion Classic proceeds this year include $25,000 to the Paul Anderson Youth Home to help update the home's kitchen, $10,000 to the public auditorium at Southeastern Technical College for a new projector, and $2,500 to the local American Red Cross for relief efforts here at home, accoding to Lisa Bishop.
