Shurlee Has Wings!
Saturday, 30 October 2010

Image October 30--It was happy day for Shurlee, the Weimaraner, Friday at Vidalia Regional Airport.  Thyra Burakowski, a member of the Sweet Onion Animal Protection Society, worked with Weimarane Rescue Groups in Atlanta and Birmingham, to arrange a flight from the Sweet Onion City to Birmingham's Weimaraner Rescue Shelter thanks to pilot James Kleen from "Pilots and Paws" in Savannah, a group of animal-loving flyers who make it their mission to give animals in need a new lease on life.  Shurlee was found by the folks at the Metter Animal Shelter and turned over to Thyra.  After an exam at the Altamaha Animal Clinic, the malnourished Shurlee took wing to Birmingham enroute to a "forever home."
