Toombs Buying New Ambulances
Tuesday, 26 October 2010

October 26--  Toombs County is upgrading its ambulance fleet.

County manager Doug Eaves reports two of the four oldest ambulances are being replaced at a cost of $207,200.  Sales tax revenue of $134,000 coupled with a state grant of $73,000 will pay for the purchase.

According to Eaves, the county also bought a new ambulance last year and the latest acquisitions provide three new vehicles.  He says they will save the county $32,000 in annual maintenance costs.

The purchase is being made from Custom Truck Works in Woodbury, GA with delivery expected by the first of the year.
