Friday, 22 October 2010

October 22--  Georgians should find out next week if the state will approve a request from Atlanta Gas Light Company to raise the price it charges for natural gas.  The state Public Service Commission issued the following release today.

"The Georgia Public Service Commission (Commission) will hold a special Energy Committee at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 to hear the Commission Advisory Staff recommendation in the Atlanta Gas Light Company (AGLC) rate request. The Commission then will hold a Special Administrative Session at 11:30 a.m. to issue a decision in the AGLC rate case.

On May 3, 2010 AGLC filed with the Commission a request for an increase in its rates effective November 1, 2010. The Company filed for an annual increase of $54.1 million in its base rates but later decreased its request to $48.2 million.

The Commission held three rounds of hearings this year to take testimony and evidence on the request and conducted four additional public meetings around the state to listen to public comments.

All meetings will take place in Room 110 at 244 Washington Street, S.W. Atlanta, Georgia.

The audio web cast of the meeting is available by going to the Commission website, http://www.psc.state.ga.us and clicking on the Audio Broadcast link."
