And the Winner Is....

October 13--  The Vidalia School System announced its Teacher of the Year at Tuesday night's school board meeting.


The system's teacher for this year is Joy Collins, a graduate of Lyons Senior High School who has been teaching social studies at Vidalia High School for the past six years.  After graduating from Georgia Southern, she spent two years teaching in Metter before moving to J.R. Trippe Middle School where she taught eight years enroute to Vidalia High.  Principal Dr. Garrett Wilcox complimented her ability to motivate high school students to become interested in government and, in particular, military history.  

Other nominees who are teachers of the year in their respective schools are (L-R) Ann Curtis from J.D. Dickerson Primary School, Debra Moncrief from Sally Meadows Elementary and Kellie Cox from J.R. Trippe Middle School.
