Tuesday, 28 September 2010

September 28--  The head baseball coach at Toombs County High School is being charged with refusal to take a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) test.

According to Vidalia police, a 911 call reported a suspected drunk driver about one a.m. Sunday morning in the parking lot of Michael's Coffee and Tobacco on Highway 280 West in Vidalia.  Police arrived and found Coach Brian Fitzgerald in his Ford Expedition with signs of intoxication.

Officers say Coach Fitzgerald refused to take an alcohol breath test and was taken to the Toombs County Detention Center.  Police instructed him to appear in Vidalia City Court in October.
