You Can Vote Now
Tuesday, 21 September 2010

September 21--  If you already know who you are going to vote for in the various November 2nd general election races, you can avoid waiting in line by voting in advance now at your local voter registration office.

Toombs County Election Supervisor Carrie Achenbach says you can vote anytime between now and October 29th.

"You can go ahead and get an absentee ballot now or you can come in the office and vote in person.  Really you can come in during the whole 45 days and vote.  You can get it out of the way and you don't have to wait in line on election day," she says.

Achenbach says many people are under the impression they can only vote in advance during the week immediately prior to the election.

"In the past we have had a pretty good advance turnout.  It's amazing though, everybody waits tilll that last week.  We offer this for 45 days, but it seems like everybody comes in that last week.  A lot of people just don't realize they can come during these next few weeks, walk in, vote and walk on out.  It only takes a few minutes," she repots.

Of course, if you're still deciding who you'll vote for and maybe want to hear more from the candidates before you vote, the county voting precincts will be open on Tuesday, November 2d from seven a.m. till seven p.m.
