Bank Scam Alert
Monday, 16 August 2010

August 16--  A telephone scam seeking your debit card information is going on in Toombs and Montgomery counties.

Officials at Montgomery Bank and Trust say it started about seven a.m. Sunday when individuals claiming to represent the bank started calling random phone numbers asking for debit card and personal identification numbers.

"I can't say that any bank would call asking for your information because we have it, we don't need to solicit it," reports Mary Jean Fulmer at Montgomery Bank.

Bank officials say, to their knowledge, none of their customers nor the bank have lost any money to the conmen.  "They do not have access to our records.  They are trying to trick people into giving them the information," she says.

If you were called and provided any information, you need to call the Montgomery Bank accounting department at 538-4097 or call 1-800-754-4128 to have your debit card "hot-carded" right away.
