August 13--  Toombs County gets high marks in economic development from the Deputy Commissioner at the Georgia Department of Economic Development.

Bill Mitchell with the Toombs County Development Authority and Georgia Economic Development Deputy Commissioner Heidi Green.

Heidi Green spent Tuesday touring Toombs plants and meeting with local officials and noted, "Toombs County has been very good about being a strong partner, you really invest in your community with industrial parks and spec buildings, and when you have that good product, it allows us to bring prospects to the community."

Green commended Toombs County commissioners for supporting economic development with one mil of local tax revenue each year and complimented the community and its neighbors for developing the Southeast Early College and Career Academy at Southeastern Tech.

"To be able to take those middle school and high school students and show them a path that can help keep them in school, it's clear there's a passion to make sure your youth have career opportunities and I just commend you on that," Green said.

Local economic development officials also briefed Green on potential new occupants of the Toombs Industrial Park north of Lyons and discussed future partnerships with the state to bring it about.
