Monday, 05 July 2010

July 5--  Two Republican candidates for Congress are criticizing Georgia Congressman John Barrow for his vote last week in favor of a bill to increase federal regulation of banking.

Candidates Ray McKinney of Lyons and Carl Smith of Thunderbolt issued statements regarding Barrow's support of the bill sponsored by Congressman Barney Frank and Senator Chris Dodd.

McKinney says the bill will kill jobs by restricting access to credit and Smith says the bill fails to address the root cause of the financial meltdown, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Congresssman Barrow defends his vote in a statement which claims the bill "protects consumers from predatory financial practices."
