The troop members got an unexpected and pleasant surprise when they bumped into Congressman John Barrow as they were beginning their tour of the White House.  Congressman Barrow took the girls, their leaders, and three ladies from Augusta on a personal tour of the White House where he described rooms, paintings, and historical tales in wonderful detail. While in the DC area, the troop also went on a tour of Alexandria, Virginia and visited George Washington's Mount Vernon.

The second part of their trip began with a tour bus ride from Washington, DC to New York.  Upon arriving in New York, the troop rode on the bus through all the burroughs of New York City and saw many historical sites and places often seen on television and in movies.  During their stay in New York, the girls visited the Empire State Building, Union Square, Saint Paul's Cathedral, Ground Zero (the site of the 9/11 tragedy), Wall Street, Federal Hall where George Washington took his oath of office in 1789, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island.  They also attended The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.

Troop Members participating in the tour were:  Jessica Gordon, Sarah Hill, Leeanna Kight, Anna McIntyre, and Kimberly Warren.  They were accompanied by Troop Leader Gwen Warren, Assistant Troop Leader Terri Marrioneaux, and family members Mark Marionneaux and Chase Gordon.
