Kids Meet Molly
Friday, 18 June 2010

June 17--  The rear parking lot at the Vidalia-Toombs County Library attracted a crowd of kids Thursday morning.  They were all there to see "Molly, the Milk Cow."

Martha Powers-Jones is in charge of summer activities for kids for the Ohoopee Regional Library System.  "With the economic situation the way it is now, it's so important to get people involved and this is all free.  We try to provide quality education and entertainment for the family and this is courtesy of the Southeastern Dairy Association to give kids in the city a chance to see where their milk comes from," she says.

The kids got to see Molly get milked and learn about dairy farming.  Meanwhile, if you think the Internet is hurting libraries, Jones invites you to stop by.  "I would ask those people to come to the library someday.  We have nine public computers and they are always full.  Everybody can't afford the Internet in their home, so we provide that service for free.  And you can still get all those fun books at the library," she reports.
