Arts & Crafts Under the Pines
Monday, 19 April 2010

April 19--  The Arts and Crafts show at this weekend's Vidalia Onion Festival will have more vendors that ever, according to show organizer Melissa Moore of the Vidalia Woman's Club which co-sponsors the event with the Vidalia Lions Club.

"We've got a record number of vendors. We've had to turn away a lot of vendors this year due to lack of space.  Next year we're going to have room for them," she says.

The Arts and Crafts venue is under the pines on Airport Road behind the Vidalia Community Center.  In addition to shopping, Moore promises some new attractions this year including pony rides for kids, 20 food vendors with one selling homemade ice cream, local entertainers, the world-famous Vidalia Onion Eating contest Saturday afternoon, and a chance to win prizes by searching for a stuffed version of Yumion, the Vidalia Onion mascot.

"We actually hide a stuffed Yumion in different booths throughout the park to encourage shoppers to visit every vendor.  We've got some good prizes including a recliner, two bicycles and a wood fire pit.   We encourage folks to come in a browze in every vendor's stall," she says.

The Arts and Crafts Show is open Saturday from nine till seven and Sunday from nine till four.
