Toombs Moves on New Garbage Sites
Wednesday, 14 April 2010

April 14--  Toombs County is continuing to develop what are called "convenience centers" for garbage drop-off by residents.

The county commission awarded contracts totaling $86,000 to start work on new centers serving the Johnson Corner and Ponderosa areas of the county.  County manager Doug Eaves says the new centers should be ready to open in the next two months and will bring to five the number of such centers serving the county.

Eaves says the commission is seeking land to locate two more convenience centers in the Normantown and Petross areas.

At their April meeting, commissioners appointed three members to the county hospital authority including Wayne Brantley, John Moore and Danny Foshee.
