April 5-  Authorities say the GBI is investigating two different cases of theft by taking in Vidalia and Toombs County.

Vidalia city school system officials report an estimated $20,000 or more is missing from the account which holds money raised by students for various clubs and activities at Vidalia High School.  The GBI is working on a full accounting of missing funds before it presses charges.

In another case, Toombs County manager Doug Eaves says about $27,000 is missing from the account maintained by the Marvin Yancey Volunteer Fire Department.  He believes money started going missing in January, 2009 and expects a criminal indictment will be sought from the Toombs County grand jury.
