Drug Convictions
Tuesday, 30 March 2010

March 30--  A witness who testified for the state in a drug case last week in Toombs County Superior Court had two cars set on fire in his driveway.

Vidalia police say they have arrested the son of a convicted drug dealer on arson charges.  Police Chief Frank Waits says 18-year-old Michael Scott, Jr. of 307-A Martin Luther King Boulevard is accused of torching two vehicles at the home of Anthony Holloway early Monday morning at 202 North Smalley Drive.

Scott's father, Michael Jerome Scott, was one of three men convicted of trafficking in cocaine and other drug charges by a Toombs County jury last Friday.  The other two are Kenneth Barnard Scott and Anthony Christopher Anderson.  A fourth defendant, Michael Lane, was found not guilty of trafficking but guilty of maintaining a dwelling for distribution of controlled substances.

Court officials say the four will be sentenced at a later date.
