Tea Party Targets Barrow
Monday, 15 March 2010

March 15--  With a vote on health care reform expected soon in Washington, conservatives in southeast Georgia are putting the pressure on 12th District Congressman John Barrow to vote against the bill.

Tea Party demonstrations in Vidalia and Statesboro are meant to keep Congressman Barrow from changing his mind when it comes time to vote, according to lobbyist Virginia Holloway with Americans For Prosperity (GA).

"There are certain congressman in Georgia that there is no hope they will vote against it and there are other congressman whom we know will vote against it, but our target here is a congressman who for months and months said he would vote against it and now he is saying that now he maybe will vote for it.  We want to send him a clear message from the people of the 12th District that we don't want the government running our health care," Holloway says.

Holloway agrees something needs to be done about the ever-increasing cost of health insurance, but says the plan proposed by Democrats is not the answer.  She believes allowing more competition across state lines by insurance companies is an immediate step which should be taken, and she's urging 12th District voters to flood Congressman Barrow's office with that message.

Congressman Barrow's phone number in Washington is 202-225-2823.
