Walking Trail Grant
Thursday, 11 March 2010

March 11--  The city of Vidalia has received a state grant to build a walking trail.  City manager Bill Torrance says the $46,000 grant from the Department of Natural Resources will build a walking trail at the new recreation complex on the Ezra Taylor Road.

City council members were told at their March meeting that sales tax collections are down.  Revenue from the local option sales tax is off five percent and income from the special purpose local option sales tax is lagging about seven percent.  On the plus side, revenue from the motel/hotel tax is up 44 percent.
