Fifth Convenience Center on the Way
Thursday, 11 March 2010

March 11--  Toombs County has purchased land for the county's fifth trash convenience center.  County commissioners have agreed to pay $10,000 for an acre of land on the old Donald Anderson Road off Highway 292 East near the Ponderosa Community.  The seller is David Kennedy of Stone Mountain.

At its March meeting, the commission announced the resignation of Mel Kelly as director of the Toombs-Montgomery Ambulance Service.  A search committee will seek a replacement for Kelly who is moving to become the Vidalia manager for Air Evac Lifeteam, a private air ambulance company which is temporarily located at Vidalia Regional Airport pending completion of the new Meadows Regional Medical Center.  The service will employ up to 15 people and provide air evac service within a 70-mile radius of Vidalia.
