E911 Agreement in Principle

March 9--  Officials say county commissions in Toombs and Montgomery counties have reached an "agreement in principle" for continuation of joint E911 service for the counties.

Toombs County manager Doug Eaves attended Monday night's meeting of the Montgomery County commission and said Toombs County is dropping its proposal that would have required Montgomery County to help pay for equipment used in E911.  In its place, Toombs suggested Montgomery pay 35% of any operational cost overruns each year.  He estimated that would cost Montgomery $1,900 a month based on overruns in 2009.

Montgomery County Commission Chairman Brandon Braddy said Tuesday morning he will call a meeting before week's end where a new Memorandum of Understanding between the two counties will be reviewed.
