Range Fuels Plant Nearing Completion
Thursday, 25 February 2010

February 25--  Some forecasters are predicting gas prices may get back to over $3 a gallon this Summer.  That's sure to prompt more discussion about alternative fuels and folks in Treutlen County hope their newest industry will be a part of the solution.

The Soperton News reports members of the county Development Authority toured the Range Fuels plant north of Soperton and were told the plant is on schedule to open in the second quarter of this year.

Groundbreaking for the plant was held with much fanfare in November, 2007 but construction was held up while the company continued to refine its technology at its pilot plant in Colorado.  It's designed to convert wood fiber from pine trees to ethanol.
