Bond Decision Expected

February 2--  The Montgomery County Board of Education expects to find out this month if the state will approve its request for $10.9 million in school bond construction funds.

The school board voted in December to use the bond money to build a new county middle-high school even though Montgomery County voters voted against a school bond issue in November.

The school board is calling for another referendum in July again asking voters to approve issuance of the bonds.  Opponents of the earlier bond issue feared the school board would raise property taxes to supplement school sales taxes in order to retire the bonds.
