Toombs EMA Flooding Update
Tuesday, 15 December 2009

December 15--  The following situation report is provided by Lynn Moore of the Toombs County Emergency Management Agency.  The photo from Donna Lee of the Red Cross gives you an idea of the water level early Tuesday.

"The Toombs County EMA has evacuated 10 people and 1 dog today....water in one home and close to a couple of more. If the water rises much more then we will have to change to boats to evacuate more folks from Davis Road. The problem is there is one way in and one way out and when Swift Creek floods the road it causes major isssues for the folks who live down on Davis Road and all the other roads in the area. One family has no water. Apparently lightning hit their deep well last night, but they will get water from neighbors and will be OK until they can have the pump repaired.

I would expect before this is over we will have to go back and bring some more folks out.
There are 20 roads closed in the county now.  There may be more depending on how much rain is coming in this next rain and possible thunderstorms.
I am headed to Grays Landing and McNatt Falls to check on the water situation."
