Montgomery Accepts Toombs Offer
Wednesday, 18 November 2009

November 18--  Commissioners in Montgomery County are buying Toombs County's share of real estate which was bought in 2003 for economic development.

At a called meeting Wednesday, the commission agreed to pay Toombs County $84,750 for 28 acres of land located on Highway 280 just east of Ailey.  The purchase will give Montgomery County ownership of the complete 56-acre tract.

Chairman Brandon Braddy says the county will pay for the land initially by using sales tax revenue which must be replaced by money from the county's general fund before the end of the year.  He also says the county's plans for some of the land will be finalized and announced once the commission gains clear title to the property.
