Traffic Death in Montgomery Co
Thursday, 12 November 2009

November 12--  A Toombs County man died in a traffic accident in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County Sheriff Clarence Sanders says 41-year-old Michael Keairns of Cedar Crossing was killed in a one car accident on Highway 107 south of Mount Vernon.

The sheriff says Keairns' wife called 911 Wednesday night when her husband failed to return home from his job at the Range Fuel Plant construction site north of Soperton.

Deputies searched his normal travel route but found nothing Wednesday night.  Early Thursday, his Ford Taurus was found nose-down in a farm pond about twenty feet from the road.  The sheriff says it was spotted by a school bus driver.  The car hit several trees and ejected Keairns who was found floating in the pond.
