November 2--  Here's an update on the renovation progress being made by the Vidalia Onion Museum and the Vidalia-Area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The new Vidalia® Onion Museum is showing more visible signs of progress.  As part of the Museum renovations, the Vidalia Area Convention and Visitors Bureau recently received a facelift to its lobby.  Museum Committee Chairman Wendy Brannen says the VA-CVB is an integral part of making the museum project work, since its staff will assist museum visitors and will be the first point of site when people enter the building.  The improvements include a custom desk with more work-space and storage areas, wall-mounted brochure racks to better utilize space and organize printed materials, and an illuminated VA-CVB logo which makes the office more clearly identifiable for those seeking assistance.

Earlier this year, the facility underwent a retrofit to expand the space for exhibits and improve traffic flow.  Brannen reports exhibits are currently under construction and will be installed in the coming weeks.  In addition, she and the museum consulting firm will have a series of planning sessions during the month of November to finalize museum content.  One key item is missing right now; the Committee is seeking pictures of the old Vidalia Farmers Market.  If you have pictures of this facility, please contact Brannen at the Vidalia Onion Committee office or email her at wbrannen@vidaliaonion.org.  The Museum Committee is also still seeking funding for project completion but has set a goal to open April 2010 in time for the Vidalia Onion Festival.
