Teen Vandals Arrested
Thursday, 29 October 2009

October 29--  Vidalia police have arrested three teenagers in connection with vandalism at Vidalia High School.

Chief Frank Waits says the trio of 17-year-olds is suspected of painting the school's new horse and indian statue red and blue.  He reports graffitti was also painted on exterior walls of the school and deer blood was spread on sidewalks.

The three are facing felony charges of criminal interference with government property after allegedly defacing the statue and other property. (Thanks to Mike Branch at The Advance for the photo,)

School officials had the statue repainted, although not in its original colors.  The statue was presented earlier this year in honor of former VHS principal Mitch Harrington who retired after last school term.
