Humane Society Director Visits
Tuesday, 06 October 2009

October 6--  The Georgia State Director of the U.S. Humane Society paid a visit to the Sweet Onion Animal Protection Society (SOAPS) Monday night in Vidalia.

Cheryl McAuliffe says the local group is doing a good job and has a lot more to do.  "SOAPS is doing great work in the community.  It is bringing awareness to a huge problem in Georgia and in this area and that is unwanted homeless animals.  With their spay and neutering and shelter work here they are doing incredible work, but unfortunately there is more work to do," she said.

McAuliffe credited the Michael Vick case with helping get tougher dog fighting legislation in Georgia.
