Confederate Cemetery Sign Stolen
Tuesday, 06 October 2009

October 7--  UPDATE--  Sheriff Kight has retracted the story below.  His office now reports a work crew removed the sign so mowers would not damage it.

October 6--  Toombs County Sheriff Junior Kight is asking the public to help him find a brass sign used to mark a cemetery where three confederate soldiers are buried.  It was erected by the Sons of Confederate Veterans.

The sheriff says the sign on the Providence Church Road was stolen sometime after September 28.  If you have information, call the Sheriff's Office, 526-6778.
