Montgomery Co Commission Budget "No Wiggle Room"
Monday, 28 September 2009

September 28--  Montgomery County commissioners are looking at ways they can save money as they approach year end.

At the end of August, expenditures running seven percent ahead of revenues caused the commissioners to hold a budget workshop Monday night.

After reviewing the county's income and expenses department by department, County Manager David Curry projected a surplus as low as $5,000.  The county's annual budget is $3 million, according to chairman Brandon Braddy.

No decisions could be made at the workshop, but commissioners identified areas they want to explore to save money.  Included are personnel furloughs, cuts to training and travel, a cutback in the county transit service and reductions in county funding of the Montgomery County Development Authority.
