Montgomery Commission Looking at Expenditures
Monday, 14 September 2009

September 15--  Expenses are running ahead of tax collections in Montgomery County.  County commission chairman Brandon Braddy says expenditures are about six percent higher than they should be as the county winds up the third quarter.  The commission has called a meeting for Monday, September 28th at 5:30 to review this year's cash flow.

At the commissioners' meeting Monday, Mount Vernon Mayor Joey Fountain briefed the commission on plans for a half-million dollar streetscape project on the city square.  He hopes it will be completed by the end of next year.

In other actions, the commission agreed to write off $412,000 in uncollectable property taxes on mobile homes.  Officials say some of the tax bills date back to 2000 and many of the mobile homes are no longer in the county.
