Glenwood Resident Named to Board

September 11--  A Glenwood resident has been named by House Speaker Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram) to the board of the Heart of Georgia Regional Commission.

 

Janice O’Brien is President of Glenwood Telephone Company, a Regulated Local Exchange Company, located in Glenwood.  O’Brien previously served as the President of the Georgia Telephone Association.  She has served as Secretary of the Georgia Telephone Association since 1996 and has been on the board of the Georgia Telephone Association since 1985.  O’Brien is a member of the Heart of Georgia Altamaha Workforce Investment Board and has served as its Vice Chairperson since 2002.   She has been chairperson of the One Stop Committee since 2003.  O’Brien is a member of First Baptist Church of Glenwood where she is member of the choir and serves on the Budget Committee.

 

The Regional Commissions, formerly the Regional Development Centers, are the official regional planning and development organizations for local governments and citizens in Georgia.  The Commissions develop, promote, and provide both short term and long term comprehensive planning.  The Regional Commissions also serve as liaisons between regional communities and the state government.
