Benefit Concert for Reidsville Brothers

August 24--  Two little boys whose mother was murdered down the hall from their room at their Reidsville home last May are getting some help from family friends.

Little Dalton and Derek Palmer, ages 8 and 11, were home when their father allegedly killed their mother, Felicia Powell Palmer.  "They're doing as best as you can expect two kids to do in a situation like this," says family friend Tammy Wells of Glennville.

The boys are living with their mother's sister in Reidsville and friends have started a trust fund to help.  "Our main focus is domestic violence prevention and this year we are giving the proceeds to Derek and Dalton to pay for counseling and education and stuff like that.  Next year when we do it, the proceeds will go to domestic violence prevention," Well says.

The primary fund raiser this year is a day of country concerts Saturday in Cobbtown culminating with a show by country singer Rhett Aikens Saturday night.  Tickets are $15 dollars and Wells promises you'll get more than your money's worth.

"Four local bands plus Rhett Akins, a car show, a bike show, a mud truck show, all kinds of arts and crafts, any kind of food you can imagine and it's just going to be a really good time," she says.

For info on tickets, booth rentals or car and bike entries, contact Tammy Wells at 912-687-5881.  Contributions to the boys may be made to the Dalton and Derek Trust Fund at the South Georgia Bank in Reidsville.
