Federal Drug Indictment Arrests in Toombs Co

August 11--  Toombs County Sheriff Junior Kight reports officers have begun arresting 31 people indicted on drug-related charges by a federal grand jury in Savannah.

Sheriff Kight says the arrests are the result of an investigation launched over a year ago with the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Georgie Bureau of Investigation.  Those arrested were scheduled to make their first appearance before a federal judge Wednesday morning in Statesboro.

The sheriff says those convicted could get from five years to life in federal prison.  There is no parole from a federal conviction.
