Vidalia Attorney Candidate for U.S. Attorney Job
Monday, 13 July 2009

July 13--  A Vidalia attorney is being considered for appointment as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Georgia.

ImageLawyer Paul Threlkeld joins State Senator Ed Tarver of Augusta on the slate of candidates being interviewed to become one of 93 U.S. Attorneys who represent the federal government in criminal and civil cases.

The Southern District covers 43 counties in Georgia and has offices in Augusta, Savannah, Statesboro, Brunswick, Dublin and Waycross.  The U.S. Attorney has 26 assistant U.S. Attorneys working in his office.

Threlkeld says he was encouraged to apply for the job and has completed one interview.  He has no idea what the timeline is for the appointment.  The incumbent, Eddie Booth of Augusta, told the Augusta newspaper he expects to be replaced sometime this year.
