July 6-- A Vidalia man is one of nineteen people killed on Georgia highways during the July 4th weekend. The Georgia State Patrol says 26-year-old Dana Darden of Vidalia was killed early Saturday in Montgomery County. Trooper First Class Mark Peacock reported Darden's truck leff the Tarrytown Road at a high rate of speed and hit several trees. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the State Patrol. Meanwhile, the Patrol had released the identity of two people seriously injured in a collision last Thursday on Bells Ferry Road in Montgomery County. It says 52-year-old Jimmy Spivey and 23-year-old Kathryn Edington, both of Lumber City, were riding a motorcycle which collided with a car driven by 26-year-old Leslie Marie Halligan of Uvalda. She is being charged with failure to yield the right of way, driving under the influence and with a suspended license, according to the State Patrol.
