Friday, 03 July 2009

July 3--  Vidalia police report more arrests in two local armed robberies.

Police believe they have solved armed robberies which occurred Thursday at K.E. Butler Jewelers on Highway 280 in Vidalia and Monday at Rabbit's Quik-Stop on Highway 292 west of the city.

After an all night investigation Thursday night, Vidalia Police Sergeant Tony Phillips reports the arrest of Canika Wills of Vidalia and Tere Edmund of Dublin. Earlier Thursday officers had arrested James Albert Brooker, III of Ailey.

Sergeant Phillips says all three are charged with armed robbery of K.E. Butler's, and Brooker and Edmund are charged with armed robbery at Rabbit's plus an earlier burglary at the convenience store.

He says local authorities including the GBI are continuing the investigation and more arrests are expected. Phillips also thanked the Toombs County Sheriff's Office and the Montgomery County Sheriff's office for their assistance in the cases.
