Robbery Suspect Arrested
Thursday, 02 July 2009

July 2--  One suspect is under arrest and another is being sought in connection with an armed robbery in Vidalia.

Police say two black males held up K.E. Butler Jewelers on Highway 280 in Vidalia Thursday morning and took jewelry and money from owner Earl Butler.

Thursday afternoon, according to Vidalia Police Sergeant Tony Phillips, police tracked James Albert Brooker, III of Ailey to 303 Kenworth Street in Vidalia where he was arrested and charged with armed robbery.  Officers are still looking for his accomplice whom they say was armed with two pistols during the robbery.

Sergeant Phillips says the GBI is investigating to see if the two are involved in the armed robbery Monday at Rabbit's Quik-Stop on Highway 292 west of Vidalia in Montgomery County.

However, he doesn't believe they were involved in a prior burglary at Rabbit's nor a break-in Wednesday night at Alexander Brothers Heating and Air in Vidalia.
