Monday, 29 June 2009

June 29--  A fishing trip led to a drowning death late Saturday afternoon in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County Deputy Sheriff Ben Mayben said 46-year-old William Butler Jordan of Vidalia was fishing on the bank with three other people at a private pond owned by Rob Roy McGregor on Hack Branch Road.

According to officers, Jordan apparently decided to go swimming and jumped in the pond and drowned.  Deputy Mayben said the others could not swim and could not attempt to rescue the drowning man.
