National Television Coverage for Local Homemaker
Friday, 12 June 2009
June 12-- A local homemaker will receive national cable coverage for her unique craft. Tracey Adams will be televised on the show "That's Clever" on HGTV practicing the art of soapmaking.

Tracey began making soap for one of her children a number of years ago, and since then, the hobby has turned into a business.

"I stated making soap, I guess it was five or six years ago. My oldest child had really sensitive skin. We had dabbled in buying natural products. It just turned into a hobby from there, and grew. Kind of became a little bit of an addiction I guess. I really enjoy making it and playing around with different senses and types of soap. I sell it in a few stores around the state and nationally, and HGTV found me through that," Tracey says.
It has been two years since the filming took place, but Tracey's segment will finally air Monday morning at 7:30.

"For the show, they wanted me to do something different.I was playing around with some different natural colorants, and decided to do a tomato garden soap. It's got poppy seeds and apricot seeds in it, so it's really good for cleaning your hands off after a day in the garden. Really good for people that work with their hands, very mosturizing,so it's got a "gardenly scent." I actually was able to color the soap by using tomatoes. They really want you to do something different. The show is called "That's Clever," so that's the angle they were going for. I tried to use a lot of natural dyes and colorants, and that's how I was able to get the reddish color of the soap. It was a lot of fun, a great experience. My kids and husband got pulled into a view shots. We haven't seen it, they won't let you see it until it airs. We're like everyone else, I'm a little nervous about that. It has been a great experience," Tracey explains.

Again, Tracey's segment on the show "That's Clever" will air Monday morning at 7:30 on the Home and Garden Television Network.
