New Lyons Better Hometown Director Hired
Wednesday, 03 June 2009

June 3--  The city of Lyons has hired a new director for its Better Hometown Program to replace Joy Lewis who retired several months ago.

Mayor John Moore told the city council Tuesday night that Alexa Britton will start work Monday.

"I'm excited about what Lyons has already done, I'm excited about Lyons future and I'm glad to part of it," she said.

Mayor Moore also reports the city has received the okay to add portions of Jefferson Street, Washington Street and Wesley Avenue to a community improvement project; that he expects the new city hall to be finished in early September; and that an expected 28 percent increase in health insurance premiums is requiring the city to seek new bids for lower rates.
