June 3– A Vidalia hairstylist is on the cutting edge with a $50,000 lottery win. Rosanna Simpson played the Georgia Lottery instant game Jumbo Bucks Classic, winning a top prize.

The 23-year-old purchased the lucky ticket at Shine’s Country Store, 701 Orange St. in Vidalia, and scratched it in the store.  “I was shocked,” the mother-to-be said. “This is good.”

Simpson is expecting her first child, a girl, in August. She plans to save her winnings until then, she shared.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $10.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 940,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
