United Way Golf Tournament
Saturday, 30 May 2009

May 30--  The United Way of Toombs, Montgomery and Wheeler Counties made over $12,000 Thursday in its first fundraiser for the 2010 campaign.

"This is our first special event for the 2010 campaign.  Tim Truxel is our campaign chair for the campaign and he's real excited that this is a big success," says United Way Executive Director Patricia Dixon.

Because of the economy, Dixon says the need is even greater.  "It's amazing to me how many phone calls a day I get for people who need help with rent, electricity and even food," she says.  The United Way works with the Salvation Army, God's Storehouse, the local Red Cross and other agencies to meet community needs.
