Saturday, 23 May 2009

May 24--  It was close all the way at Treutlen High School this year to determine the top academic graduates.  At the end of the final grading period, Chelsea Garner edges out Brad Corbin for Valedictorian honors.

ImageHer plans are to become a veterinarian.  "This Fall I attend the University of Georgia as an Animal Science major and then I want to go to the School of Veterinary Medicine and become a mixed animal vet who works on dogs and cats and cows and horses," she says.  Chelsea hopes to one day return home and open her own animal clinic.

Saluatorian Brad Corbin is enrolled in the honors program at Georgia Southern as the first step on a career in medicine.  On the way out, he thanks the faculty at Treutlen High School for what they have done for him and says he's ready for a new chapter in his life.

The Viking graduation ceremonies are set for Sunday night at eight p.m.
