Sales Tax Collections Down in Vidalia

May 11--  Local option sales tax collections in Vidalia are down.  City officials say collections in the first four months of the year are down nearly nine percent compared to last year.

For the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, the city only has figures for January and February and they are down nearly 25 percent from last year.

However, tourism and alcohol sales are up.  The city's hotel and motel tax collections are up nearly 17 percent so far this year.  Alcohol sales tax collections are up nearly four percent.
