Vidalia Offering Annexation
Monday, 11 May 2009

May 11--  The city of Vidalia plans to offer city services to residents who live near the city limits and would agree to annexation into the city.

Monday night the city council okayed an offer to residents in the C.V. Mosley Drive area in the east and to others in the Forest Lake area to the southwest. The city is planning three meetings to discuss annexation starting Tuesday, May 26th at six p.m. at city hall,

In other actions, the council denied a change in zoning on Kenworth Street which would have allowed apartments and bed-and-breakfast establishments.

The council was also informed the vendor who has been collecting and recycling cardboard under a city contract has gone bankrupt.  Businesses are being informed to break down and put their cardboard in dumpsters or bring it to the city recycyling center on Brinson Road.
