Area Jobless Rate Improves Slightly

April 27--  The area's jobless rate showed a slight improvement from February to March, according to the state Labor Department.

In the nine-county Vidalia trade area, 518 more people had jobs in March than in February.  Jeff Davis County remained the county with the highest unemployment rate at 12.9% in March, but that was an improvement over the 13.4% rate in February.  Tattnall County has the lowest March unemployment rate of 8%.

Toombs County's unemployment dropped nearly 1% in March.  Montgomery County's rate improved by 1.3%, Treutlen improved .6% and Wheeler County was down nearly 1%.
