Road Damage in Montgomery Co
Monday, 06 April 2009
April 6-- Montgomery County sustained some minor damages during the recent heavy rain
and river flooding which led to several road closings.
A preliminary damage assessment revealed that around 115 miles of county dirt road
will need some degree of repair. Two road culverts were completely washed out resulting
in the closing of those roads.
Dead River Rd. has experienced flooding from the Oconee River and is also currently closed.
Several residences are affected by flood waters at this time. The river is currently at 19 ft. and
is forecast to remain at this level at least through the remainder of this week. The current
forecast does not indicate any more rise in the level.
Montgomery County Emergency Management Director John Neff said, “We are monitoring the
situation with the river very closely and are working with the residents in the area to keep
them informed of any changes in the river forecast.”
