April 5--  The popular morning host of "The Q-Morning Crew" on WTCQ-FM in Vidalia died of natural causes Friday night at his home in Vidalia.

ImageCharles Merrion, Jr., known as Chuck Morris on the air, woke up thousands of listeners throughout southeast Georgia for the past 13 years on "98Q."

"Chuck was a good friend and outstanding broadcaster," said station general manager Zack Fowler.  "We worked side-by-side for all these years and I always knew Chuck had the best interest of the station and its listeners at heart.  He loved his job and I think his listeners loved him being there morning after morning.  His natural friendliness and goodness came through on his morning show," Fowler said.

The 53-year-old announcer was found in his apartment on Arlington Drive in Vidalia Sunday morning after he did not show up for work.  No official cause of death has been given, however, he suffered from diabetes and high blood pressure.  Officials say there was no sign of foul play.

He was a native of Swainsboro.  Funeral arrangements will be announced by Mosley Funeral Home of Swainsboro.

Listeners who would like to send condolences may email us and copies will be provided to Chuck's family.  The email address is zfowler@vidaliacommunications.com.
