Election Legislation Passes
Tuesday, 31 March 2009

March 31--  Legislation to create a Toombs County Board of Elections and Registration has passed the Georgia legislature.

County manager Doug Eaves says the local legislation passed in the Georgia House Monday after clearing the State Senate March 17th. It will become law when signed by Governor Sonny Perdue.

The Toombs County Commission sought the law after consulting with county Probate Judge Larry Threlkeld who thought it was the way to go.  The new law takes responsibility for running elections out of the Probate Judge's office and assigns it to the Board of Elections.
